The Danish National Biobank stores millions of biological samples available for use in research projects. Access to samples can be obtained in 6 steps.

How to obtain access to biological samples from the DNB:

1) Contact the DNB Coordinating Centre with your research idea

2) Obtain permission from a Danish Research Ethics Committee (Videnskabsetisk Komité)

3) Obtain approval from your research institution (“Fortegnelsen”)

4) Fill out and submit DNB application form

5) The project is reviewed by the DNB Scientific Board

6) Samples are handed out

 

Fees for retrieval of biological samples

As a general rule, retrieval of samples from the Danish National Biobank is free of charge. However, certain services, such as aliquoting or transportation, may incur additional costs. Please contact mail@nationalbiobank.dk for further information.

PKU cards
The use of samples (PKU cards/heel prick blood spots) from the National Screening for Congenital Disorders is subject to fees for retrieval and punching. For details, please contact sikkerpost-ms@ssi.dk.
