Information for citizens whose biological samples are stored by SSI

In 2024, SSI sent an information letter to all citizens whose biological samples are stored at SSI. As a citizen, you will continue to receive information from SSI on a monthly basis if we received a sample from you for analysis in our central laboratory.

At sundhed.dk under "Details," you can see where samples from you have been analyzed for each individual test result.

If you have questions about the information you have received from SSI, you can contact us via Digital Post.

Once logged into Digital Post, select "Statens Serum Institut" as the recipient and choose the appropriate department. If you have questions regarding the information letter, please select the department "Borgerhenvendelser" (Citizen Inquiries).

If you are exempt from using Digital Post or prefer to contact us via regular mail, you can send a letter to:

The Danish National Biobank is part of SSI and its purpose is to store both biological samples analyzed by SSI as a Danish central laboratory as well as biological samples received by SSI solely for research purposes.

SSI is data controller for the above and as such must ensure that the samples are processed securely and lawfully. In connection with SSI’s processing of personal data about you, you have a number of fundamental rights – for example, the right to know which samples SSI stores from you. You may also request that your samples be destroyed. Read more about your rights below.

You may file a complaint with the Danish Data Protection Agency (Datatilsynet) regarding SSI’s processing of your personal data. You can find Datatilsynet’s contact information on their website under www.datatilsynet.dk/english/contact-us
